A one day seminar with Lyn Hay & Pru Mitchell.

The introduction of the Australian Curriculum in schools across the states and territories is placing significant demands on school communities to adequately resource this new curriculum.

Every teacher and every student in our classrooms today need access to a diverse range of quality resources to support teaching and learning programs.

This seminar is designed to provide school communities with the capacity to develop and manage a customised, quality, multi-format collection of resources to support the breadth of content of English, Mathematics, Science and History across year levels, as well as support the teaching of the seven General Capabilities and the integration of three Cross-curriculum priorities.

Seminar participants will:

  • Understand resourcing implications for the Australian Curriculum.

  • Examine research on literacy development and student achievement using edevices & eresources.

  • Discover a diverse range of e book providers/resources available and compare access policies and issues including contracts, licensing, digital rights management, budgeting, ownership models, flexibility & diversity.

  • Be introducted to a range of Web 2.0 curation tools and provides examples of school library curation sites.

  • Explore the new standard for resource description and access (RDA) and what this means for school libraries.

  • Consider future directions for search, and challenges of managing e-resources.
